 Check your body weight once a month and keep it within ideal range.

 Understand the calorie contents of the foods. The calorific value of a particular food refers to the amount of energy liberated by that food on digestion. One must learn to relate volume of food with caloric content.

 Remember that fat rich foods have the highest caloric valve while the carbohydrates have the lowest caloric value.

 Eat small meals spread equally throughout the day. If you are on Insulin it would be better if you have three main meals and three snacks.

 Be sure the diet you are following has been approved by your doctor or dietician.

 Eat your food slowly and chew the food properly. When you do that, amylase and other enzymes that break down starch are released. This helps to digest the food better.

 When you eat fruits, avoid drinking them as fruit juice. Cut the fruits into small pieces and eat them. When you drink fruit juice the glycemic index of the juice increases whereas when you eat as single pieces the absorption becomes slower. The glycemic index of a food item is rate at which a particular food is absorbed in relation to the absorption of  glucose.

 Make sure that your daily diet contains Spinach, Raw Onions and Methi.

 If you have to eat bread,  eat whole bread or whole grain rye bread.

 

EXERCISE

             Any exercise regime you start should be slow and gradual.      Preferably consult your physician before starting any exercise regime.

 Walking, Swimming and cycling are some exercises that cause the large muscles to use up glycogen reserves.

 Walking is the mildest type of exercise one can start with. You must walk for at least three times a day for twenty minutes.

 Exercise not only help in consuming calories but it also improves on the mood. When you exercise , chemicals called endorphins are released . These chemicals produce feeling of well being.

 Exercise also helps to reduce stress. Stress is an inevitable component of modern lifestyle. Uncontrolled stress can kill. A regular exercise can help to give a perfect balance between too much and too little stress.
