Heart disease start at adolescence !

There is lot of evidence to suggest that the coronary heart disease starts in  adolescence.

New guidelines from the American Heart Association recommends that people should start getting heart checkups at the age of 20.

Getting basic checks at an early age may be helpful to detect some cases with potential of greater problem at a later age. That means getting blood pressure, blood  cholesterol level, weight, waist circumference and pulse checked. For these a person need not go to a cardiologist and family physician can do these.

Studies have shown that Americans are developing heart diseases at a younger age. Studies have also shown the beneficial effects of taking aspirin by those not having heat disease. Aspirin was originally recommended for those who had suffered a heat attack.

There is an epidemic of Obesity. More than one-quarter of the US population is obese. Obesity can lead to diabetes and heat disease.

A person's risk can be checked with a short check of waistline circumference. A waistline of 40 inch (100 cm) usually puts a man at a high risk of heart disease and in case of women 30 inches (75 cm ).
